What is a Family Readiness Group (FRG)?
Simply put, Family Readiness Groups take care of soldiers' families. They are
officially sanctioned organizations of officers, enlisted
soldiers, civilians and family members affiliated with a military unit
that use volunteers to provide social, financial and emotional support and
outreach services to family members. An FRG is the first line of support
for families of soldiers before, during and after overseas deployment.

In today's military, when a soldier goes to war, the whole family goes to
war. In the past, most members of the armed forces were single. Today,
more than 60% have dependent families. When spouses are deployed, military
families often face overwhelming financial and emotional burdens. Some
typical questions include:
- How can I afford the travel costs to get to the military hospital to see
my wounded spouse?
- What happens if my spouse is severely wounded or killed? Who will be
there for me?
- How will I pay for modifications to the house for my disabled spouse?
- Who can I turn to to cope with my spouses change in behavior?
- My child is withdrawn. Where can I get counseling?
- Can I talk to my spouse while he is
deployed?

supporting those who know exactly what is needed in the event of a
crisis. We urge you to support the military families.
